Two charged with meth

Investigators from the St. Joseph County Area Narcotics unit executed two search warrants Wednesday at a residence in the 29000 block of Edgewater Beach Road in White Pigeon Township, where two pounds of drugs were to be delivered by U.S. Mail.

In conjunction with officials from the U.S. Postal Service, SCAN officers served a search warrant for a quantity of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $100,000, sheriff’s department officials said.

When the package was picked up by two men around 11:30 a.m., officers attempted to stop them from fleeing the scene.

Police subsequently blocked the street; the vehicle turned around in another attempt to escape, rammed into an undercover officer’s vehicle.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Three Rivers Health. The other occupant was arrested.

The two suspects are to be charged with possession with intent to deliver and felonious assault.
