Fiscal-year end changes

The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners has approved the change of fiscal-year end for four of six funds.

During action at last week’s commission meeting, the board changed the fiscal-year end from September 30 to Dec. 31 for funds related to secondary road patrol, community corrections advisory, community corrections program and victim rights advocate.

The change was made so the four funds are on a fiscal-year end calendar consistent with the county’s fiscal year, which is Jan. 1 through Dec. 31.

As a result, the four funds will realize a 15-month fiscal year before ending Dec. 31 and adhering to their new 12-month fiscal year starting Jan. 1.
