Mendon Riverfest well attended

 

 

The 27th Mendon Riverfest wrapped up Saturday with a fireworks show that drew more than a thousand spectators.

Event organizers said the three-day festival was well attended and benefitted from good weather.

 

The team of Denny Jones, Shawn Conroy and Greg Bingaman was the overall winner of Saturday’s canoe swamp, while the winning youth-division squad was comprised of Collin Jones, Cassie Jones and Sabrina Weaver.

Earlier in the day, a fishing tournament drew a total of 13 people.

First-place catfish winner was Vicksburg resident Randy Seilheiemer, who nabbed an 8-pound, 5.4-ounce catch that measured 28 inches in length. He won $40 in cash, and a fishing pole and reel.

First-place bass was Ryan Lukeman, of Mendon, who reeled in a catch of 2 pounds, 5.8 ounces and measuring 17 inches.

Third- and fourth-place bass winners were Steve and Gail Heath of Three Rivers. Steve’s catch weighed 1 pound, 14 ounces and measure 16.25 inches. Gail’s was 1 pound, 11 ounces, and measured 15.5 inches.
