Doris Garl, 66

Doris M. Garl, age 66, of Colon, passed away Aug. 31, 2014, at her home, following an extended illness. Doris was born Aug. 1, 1948, in Keokee, Va., a daughter of Samuel and Charlotte (Burks) Robinson. In December 1966, she married George Garl Sr.

She had lived most of her life in St. Joseph County, where she was a homemaker and had worked in home health care and as a seamstress.

She is survived by her mother, Charlotte Robinson of Colon; three children, George (Susan) Garl Jr. of Colon, Sarah Garl and fiancé PaulWebb of White Pigeon and Dana (Danyel) Garl of Jones; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda (Jim) Gibbs of Edwardsburg; two brothers, Harry (Connie) Robinson and Darrell (Patty) Robinson, both of Goshen, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Robinson.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Doris M. Garl will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Rodger Moyer officiating. Burial will follow at the White Pigeon Cemetery.
