Edward Roy “Ed” Laverdure, age 83, of Three Rivers, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born in Rollette, ND on Jan 27, 1931 the son of Jerry and Rose (Vivier) Laverdure. After high school Ed enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served as a medic during the Korean War. He was married to Marie I. LaFrambois on Sep. 27, 1954 in Anaconda, MT, and they have made their home in Three Rivers the past 45 years.
Ed was a steel worker for American Bridge Co., Bethlehem Steel, Robertson Erection Co., and retired from Miller-Davis in Kalamazoo. He later started his own construction company known as M-Construction in Three Rivers. Ed was a member of the Steel Workers Union and the Three Rivers Eagles. He was a little league coach, and enjoyed watching all sports. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and his annual Fathers Day golf outing.
Ed is survived by two daughters, Janice (Terry) Collins of Three Rivers and Lisa (Bill) Longacre of White Pigeon; two sons, Steve Laverdure of Three Rivers and Robert Laverdure of White Pigeon; five grandchildren, Ryan, Marisa, and Matt “Chooch” Collins, Taylor and Michael Longacre; sister, Ramona (Delmer) Poitra of Seattle, WA ; brother, Louis (Arlene) Laverdure of Havre, MT; several nieces and nephews including, Debbie Livingood, Fernanda Carreno, Mildred Kokas, William and Raymond Laverdure. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; two sons, Jeffrey and Wayne; and eight siblings.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers, and where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday Sep. 16, 2014 in Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Father Jim Vinh Le officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170.
