A Kalamazoo attorney defending Raymond McCann Jr. said his client’s case will probably not go to trial for two more months.
McCann was arrested on charges that he lied to police during investigation of the 2007 murder of Jodi Parrack in Constantine.
James Mequio, who represents McCann, said a status conference last week raised more legal issues that must be addressed before the case can proceed.
The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s office is adding more instances of alleged false statements by McCann, a former Constantine Police Department reserve officer, made during several interview sessions with authorities.
McCann has been in the St. Joseph County Jail since his arrest in April, unable to post a $225,000 cash or surety bond.
He has pleaded not guilty to the perjury charges.
