A proposed recreation trail leading to Meyer Broadway Park in Fabius Township received a funding boost last week.
The Three Rivers Area Community Foundation made a $50,000 donation Thursday to representatives from the River Country Recreational Authority. Authority member Lindsay Oswald said the foundation has agreed to contribute an additional $50,000 if the recreational authority is able to match that figure.
As an additional source of grant money, the J.A. Woollam Foundation is offering as much as $175,000. The recreational authority would need to complete the two-step process of raising the additional $50,000 to qualify for the additional community foundation grant money, then secure an additional $25,000.
Oswald said the recreational authority has until the end of the year to raise the $75,000 in total matching funds to qualify for what is being offered between the two foundations.
The proposed trail would run from Three Rivers Health to the north end of Meyer Broadway Park.
