Ruth Meade, 91

Ruth Elizabeth MeadeRuth Elizabeth Meade, 91, of Three Rivers, formerly of Marcellus, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at her home. She was born in Portland, Mich., on Dec. 10, 1922, the daughter of the late Earnest and Nellie (Hatmaker) Knox.

Mrs. Meade moved to Three Rivers in 2004 after spending 50 years in the Marcellus area. She was a member of the Howardsville Gospel Chapel for many years and more recently First Baptist Church of Newberg. She was employed by Continental Can Company and later worked at Docsa/Riverview Manor.

Ruth truly enjoyed her church family and serving the Lord. She also had a love for animals, flowers, and especially her time with family and friends. She hosted many family holiday dinners, and will forever be known for her Christmas fudge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ezra Meade; one sister, Emily Knox; and one brother, Ray Knox.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory two sons, Phil (Penny) Meade of Three Rivers and James (Jean) Meade of Jonesborough, Tenn.; two daughters, Joyce Meade of Three Rivers and Christine (Dan) Reinhart, of Bradley; three grandchildren, Pepper (Dan) Schmeckpeper of Clarkston, Phrene’ (Kurt) Hoeksema of Hastings and Michael Oswalt of Kalamazoo; and five great grandchildren, Corban, Kylan, Katerra, Corinna and Chaya.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the First Baptist Church of Newberg, with Pastor Mike Owen officiating.

Interment will be in Marcellus Cemetery.

Memorials may be donated to the First Baptist Church of Newberg or Three Rivers Health Hospice and Homecare. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.hohnerfh.com.
