Basil Rodenbo

Basil J. Rodenbo, age 78, of Mendon, died peacefully at his home on Saturday Oct. 4, 2014. He was born in Shepherd, MI on Feb. 17, 1936 the son of Basil G. and Hildred (Chaffin) Rodenbo. He attended Detroit area schools and Wayne State University. Basil proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was married to Glenda Page on Nov. 13, 1959 in the Temple Baptist Church in Detroit. While living there, Basil worked as a machinist for Harry W. Dietert and later for George Fisher Foundry in Holly. Following his retirement in 1987 he moved to Iowa, and then to Mendon in 1996. Basil enjoyed woodworking, golf, gardening, and baking for others. He especially enjoyed any activity spent with his family.

Basil is survived by his wife, Glenda; four children, Scott Rodenbo of Green Acres, FL , Karen (David) Arevalo of Mendon, Gloria Rodenbo and Irene Sims both of Detroit; seven grandchildren, Matthew Conroy, Amanda (Cristan) Pietrariu, Jessica Conroy, Brandon Rodenbo, Allison, Isiah and Blaec Arevalo; three great-grandchildren, Adilynn, Farrah, and Tavien Pietrariu; a brother, John (Dorothy) Rodenbo of SanDiego, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George; and by two sisters, Jacqueline and Sondra,

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 8, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Currell and Rev. Bryan Balasa officiating. Military interment will be in Mendon Cemetery. It is suggested that memorials be directed to either Hospitality House at Bronson Hospital, or to the Salvation Army. Condolences may also be left for the family at www.eickhofffuneralhome.com
