Colon Citizens of the Year named

Marcia Blackman and Carl Drumhiller Jr. will be honored this weekend as Colon’s Citizens of the Year.

The public is invited to bring a dish to pass and help with the celebration. It takes place at 6 p.m. Saturday at Colon United Methodist Church, 224 N. Blackstone Ave.

Meat, drinks and table service will be provided.

Linda Musall of the Colon Area Chamber of Commerce said of the 10 people nominated, Blackman and Drumhiller Jr. received the most endorsements.

Blackman, a retired art teacher at Three Rivers High School, has been active with the Colon Garden Club, a number of library programs and was the leading force behind designing the entryway to Colon Community Park.

Drumhiller Jr. has been heavily involved in activities at the Colon American Legion. His construction expertise saw him add on the newest section of Colon Township Library. He was also the primary builder behind the Colon Community Park building.
