One injured in Cass County crash

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called Wednesday to a traffic accident at Oak Grove and Beeson roads in Lagrange Township.

Deputies said 36-year-old Cassopolis resident Virgil Cook was northbound on Oak Grove shortly before 1 p.m. when he failed to yield for an oncoming vehicle driven by 45-year-old Michael Ellis of Marcellus.

Ellis was transported by ambulance to Borgess Hospital in Dowagiac for further treatment. His vehicle went out of control into a southbound vehicle stopped at the intersection and driven by Charles Ward, 34, of Cassopolis.

Both Ward and his passenger, 31-year-old Andrew Mckenna of Cassopolis, were uninjured.

Seatbelts were used in all cases and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
