David Scott “Spit” Spitaleri, age 52, of Three Rivers passed away suddenly on October 16, 2014 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital following a brief illness, throughout which Scott kept good spirits and a hopeful attitude. He was born on May 22, 1962 in Detroit, MI., the son of George and Brenda (Ary) Spitaleri.
Scott attended schools in the Ypsilanti area where he excelled at baseball. Scott was united in marriage to Dianne (Huss) in 1995 and they moved to Three Rivers where Scott began employment at American Axle where he held several positions for more than twenty years. Spit loved Detroit Tigers Baseball, Softball, Bowling (Spit bowled a 300 game in January 2004), Music of all varieties, hiking and afternoon drives with his wife, and especially his family. Spit fulfilled two lifelong dreams of attending a baseball All-Star Game in Detriot and visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY., with his Uncle Bob Hensley.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, wife, Dianne (Huss) Spitaleri, of Three Rivers; parents, Brenda Pomeroy, of Three Rivers, father, George (Mary) Spitaleri, of Onsted, MI.; daughter, Sydnay Spitaleri, of Three Rivers; brother, Chris (Denean) Pomeroy, of Kalamazoo; sisters, Nicole Spencer, of Oklahoma City, OK., and Christine Spitaleri; eight step-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Rylie, Hunter, Josh, Dylan, Mitchell, Carlie, and Mason. Nieces, Payton and Aubrey Pomeroy; Nephew, Tyler Spencer. Several cousins, aunts and uncles, all of which he held very dear.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, October 20th, 2014 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Hohner Funeral Home with his brother Chris Pomeroy officiating.
Interment will be held in Moorepark Cemetery.
