David E. Friesner, 77, of White Pigeon, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital, following a short illness.
He was born Jan. 21, 1937, in White Pigeon, a son of James and Margaret (Garber) Friesner. He lived in the White Pigeon and Stone Lake areas all his life. He was a graduate of White Pigeon High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He retired from White Pigeon Paper Mill, where he worked for many years. He was owner of White Pigeon Bowl. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, golfer, a member of the Tuesday Night Business League at St. Joe Valley Golf Course, played in the Concrete Open. He enjoyed cars and auto racing. He was a driver and owner of his own drag racer. On June 3, 1967, he married Dorothy Jean Clark in White Pigeon. She died June 29, 1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Phyllis M. Friesner. He is survived by cousins.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Manning of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be inWhite Pigeon Township Cemetery. Donations may be directed to the ISD for handicapped children.
Following the graveside service, a gathering will be held at White Pigeon Bowl.
