Martha Jean Myers, age 68, of Mendon, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor following a long illness. She was born in Mendon on Sep. 20, 1946 the daughter of John and Susie (Van Voorhis) Wolfe, was a lifetime resident of Mendon, and attended the Mendon United Methodist Church. She graduated from Mendon High School in 1964 and later graduated from Wrights Beauty Academy as a licensed Beautician. Martha worked for Mendon Public Schools as an assistant for 13 years. She retired as Executive Officer of the St. Joseph County Association of Realtors where she worked for 19 years. She was a member of the National and Michigan State Association of Realtors. She was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and enjoyed travelling and camping.
Martha was married to James “Jim” Myers on Dec. 11, 1965. He survives along with two sons, Mat Myers of Holt and Jon (Lisa) Myers of Chesterfield Township; five grandchildren, Megan, Colin, Kate, Jeremy, and Jenna Myers; two sisters, Sarah Cross of Mendon and Joanne Shutes of Three Rivers; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; mother in law, Roberta Myers; sisters in law, Ruth Lovell and Sandra (Robert) DeGrote; and brother in law, Richard (Kay) Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brother, Dale Wolfe.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12 noon on Wednesday Nov. 26, 2014 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Joan Riley of the New Hope Assembly of God officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
