The city of Three Rivers is kicking off its 2014 Christmas season this weekend with a tree-lighting ceremony at 6:15 p.m. Friday at the downtown Mural Mall.
“Miracle on Main Street” is the theme of this year’s holiday celebration, which will include four weekends of special holiday events and shopping in the downtown district.
Christmas caroling, a book reading of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Mayor Tom Lowry, and hot chocolate provided by Love Your Mother will take place during Friday’s tree-lighting event.
This year’s tree was donated by a disabled American veteran.
Santa Claus arrives at noon Saturday at the Riviera Theatre and will stick around until 4 o’clock. He’ll return from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
