A Sturgis police officer has been placed on a two-week suspension following his involvement in an off-duty incident last month in Kalamazoo County.
The 29-year-old officer was charged with operating under the influence and for having a blood-alcohol content of 0.17 percent or higher, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department.
The officer told investigators he was driving around 2 a.m. Oct. 26 on 44th Street when he crashed his pickup truck near PQ Avenue. He was the only occupant in the vehicle and was treated for minor injuries.
Sturgis Director of Public Safety Geoff Smith said the incident is being handled by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department. An internal investigation, however, is ongoing by the Sturgis department.
WWMT and other media outlets have reported the officer as Bryan Stuck, of Bronson.
