A trial for a former St. Joseph County public school teacher charged with criminal-sexual conduct has been postponed until early 2015.
At a pretrial conference Monday, St. Joseph County Circuit Judge Paul Stutesman granted a defense request to adjourn a Nov. 25 trial to allow the counsel for 59-year-old David Wing time to prepare for additional witnesses.
A 2014 investigation by Constantine police resulted in Wing being charged with six counts of criminal sexual conduct involving two males who had been Wing’s students.
The complaint alleges Wing sexually assaulted an 11-year-old boy in 2009 when Wing was the boy’s fifth-grade teacher at Riverside Elementary School in Constantine. The boy was allegedly assaulted again in June at Wing’s home in Three Rivers.
In addition, Wing is charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old former student who is cognitively impaired.
