Anna Marie Armstrong, age 96, of Three Rivers, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis. She was born in Platteville, WI on Oct. 18, 1918 the daughter of the late Fred B. and Lena E. (Hons) Stark, and graduated from Platteville High School. While attending high school she worked as a candy salesman, cleaned homes, and took care of children. After high school she attended Platteville Teachers College and later worked at National Lock Company in Rockford, IL
Anna met Whitford Armstrong in Rockford, IL at a roller rink while he was stationed at Camp Grant Army Base. Anna married Whitford, son of Joe and Louise (Klipfell) Armstrong on Aug. 20, 1943 at the First English Lutheran Church in Platteville, WI. After Whitford was honorably discharged from the Army on Feb. 15, 1946 they relocated to Three Rivers Michigan. Anna worked as a seamstress at White House, and later worked at the Jack Reed Co. in Three Rivers. Anna was president, vice president, junior past president, trustee, treasurer, inside and outside guard of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #2303, and involved in the past president club of the Eagles. Anna was president, vice president, and treasurer of the Michigan First Grandmother’s Club. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, cooking for her family, and mushrooming up North. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and embroidery.
Anna is survived by two sons, Jack (Pam) Armstrong of Three Rivers, and Robert (Vicki) Armstrong of Bowling Green, KY; son in law, Roger (Suann) Knauss of Sturgis; brother, Jim Stark of Rockford, IL; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Whitford in 1997; son and daughter in law Charles (Doris) Armstrong; daughter, Linda Knauss; three brothers, Charles, Orville, and William Stark; two sisters, Kathryn Savoldelli and Helen Ingram.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers with Rev. Brian Lutz, Chaplain of Heartland Hospice officiating.
