Herbert Jess Roesener, age 84, of White Pigeon, MI, passed away Saturday, December 27th, at Elkhart General Hospital. Herb was born in Breman, IN on May 8, 1930, a son of the late Jess Walterhouse and Pearl Roesener. He was the husband of Joan A. (Schmidt) Roesener.
Herb graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1949 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy as a frogman in the Korean War from 1951-1954. He worked as a machinist and tool & die maker at Bendix Corporation, South Bend/Mishawaka. He retired on June 28, 1985. Herb earned his Black Belt at Anglemyer Tae Kwon Do in Constantine, and at the age of 72, was a State Champion and National Title holder in Tae Kwon Do. He enjoyed fishing, spearing, and snorkeling.
Herb is survived by his wife Joan Roesener; daughter Cindy (Ken) Anglemyer of Constantine, MI; grandchildren Kristi (Matt) Lusk, Ken (Rebecca) Anglemyer II, Dustin (Danielle) Roesener, Billy (Jennie) Roesener, Greg Roesener, Scott Roesener, Joseph Roesener, and Christopher Roesener; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons William Roesener and Thomas Roesener, and sister Natalie Roesener.
Relatives and friends will be received on Friday from 12-2 pm at Eley Funeral Homes, Constantine, with Religious services at 2 pm. Pastor Thomas Short, Elkhart East Christian Church, will officiate.
