Imogene Bickel, age 91, formerly of Vicksburg, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Three Rivers where she had resided the past year. She was born in Cutcheon, MI on Dec. 15, 1922 the oldest daughter of Hallett H. and Hazel M. (Sheldon) Bickel. After graduating from Lake City High School, Imogene worked at B.F. Goodrich in Cadillac. For many years she worked as a sales clerk at both Woolworths and Zayres Department stores in Kalamazoo. She enjoyed doing all kinds of crafts, especially knitting, crocheting, and needlework.
Imogene is survived by her daughter, Cora Jean Bickel of Mendon; three brothers and their spouses, Calvin (Phyllis Bickel of Cadillac, Ivan (Jacque) Bickel of Huntsville, TX, and Stanley (Judy) Bickel of Mendon; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers Donald (Ethel) Bickel, Melvin (Betty) Bickel, John (Doris) Bickel, and Rollin Bickel; four sisters, Maxine (Wally) Chaykowski, Kathryn (Kenny) Martinson, Paula Faye Bickel, and Karry Ellen Bickel.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Three Rivers Bible Church in Three Rivers. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday Dec. 4, 2014 at the Three Rivers Bible Church with Pastor Jay Bailey officiating. Following a luncheon, burial will take place in Mendon Cemetery.
