Michael Xavier Virgil, 56, of Mottville Township, White Pigeon, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at his home, following an illness.
He was born Feb. 15, 1958, in South Bend, Ind., a son of Mark T. and Marie C. (Fortline) Virgil Sr. He was a Mottville Township resident the past 24 years, coming from Grass Lake. His early life was spent in South Bend.
He was self-employed as a computer numerical control programmer and CAD designer. A member of Riverview Christian Fellowship in White Pigeon, he enjoyed woodworking, stained glass, fishing, time with his family and all things electronic. He was a musician. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in South Bend.
On Sept. 16, 1989, he married Sheryl S. Christner in Sturgis. She survives, along with a sister, Maureen C. Wojciechowski of Mishawaka, Ind.; four brothers, Mark T. Virgil Jr. of South Bend, Joseph A. (Christiana) Virgil of Castle Rock, Colo., Dennis J. (Holly) Virgil of North Liberty, Ind., and Timothy S. Virgil of Granger, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joanne T. Virgil; and his mother and father-in-law, Mary Ellen and Mervin Christner.
Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Riverview Christian Fellowship in White Pigeon. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at the church, with Pastor Merlin Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Mottville Township Cemetery.
Donations may be directed to Gospel for Asia. Envelopes are available at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, which is in charge of arrangements.
