Sturgis staged toy and food giveaway

Volunteers from The Salvation Army and Sturgis Toy Run came together last week for a food and toy giveaway.
Staged at the Sturgis Armory over a two-day period Monday and Tuesday, literally tons of food were given away and about 1,700 toys, according to Nick Metzger, Salvation Army case manager.
About 200 families, including 520 children, were helped by the program, he said.
Metzger said most of the toys came from the Sturgis Toy Run, while some came from Toys for Tots. Others were from the Angel Tree project.
Tom Morris, Toy Run president, said the partnership between the Toy Run and Salvation Army has proven to be a win-win situation.
During its September event, the Toy Run received $1,200 in cash donations in addition to an abundance of toys.
