Trent A. Holtslander, age 10, of Constantine, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, in Three Rivers following a tragic accident.
He was born Sept. 13, 2004, in Sturgis, a son of Jason and Beth (Swihart) Holtslander.
Trent was a good student in the fourth grade at Centreville Elementary School, where he excelled especially in math. He was always cheerful and ready to lend a hand to his parents and grandparents. Trent loved helping Grandpa Terry pick up sticks in the yard and work in the barn. He also loved sports, fishing with his brother and Superman. He loved to play games and always giggled and laughed when he won.
Trent is survived by his father, Jason Holtslander of Three Rivers; his mother, Beth (Holtslander) Swihart of Constantine; two brothers, Austin Hamilton of Constantine and Cole (Swihart) Masters of Butler, Pa.; his paternal grandparents, Michael and Margaret (Streeter) Hicks of Marcellus; maternal grandparents, Terry and Lucinda (Rodenberger) Currier of White Pigeon; maternal great-grandmother, Janet Streeter of Three Rivers; paternal great-grandmother, June Korniski of Frankenmuth; and uncles and aunts Jack C. Hicks and Nancy Brombrys of Marcellus, Chris and Malinee Swihart of Berrien Springs and Richard and Vicki Walters of Howe, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Paul F. Holtslander; and maternal grandfather, Melvin W. Swihart.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Trent A. Holtslander will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Corey Church of the Nazarene, 10056 Water St., Three Rivers. The Rev. Gary Carr will officiate.
In accordance with family wishes, cremation will follow the service. Private burial of the ashes will take place at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
