Two people injured in Centreville crash

Two Sturgis residents were airlifted to Bronson Hospital following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning in the village of Centreville.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department said a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Sturgis man was westbound on East Main Street when his vehicle crossed the centerline and into the path of an eastbound garbage truck at Industrial Drive.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m.
Police said the 31-year-old driver of the car was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital, while his passenger, a 21-year-old woman, was transported to Bronson Hospital as well. The driver of the garbage truck, a 56-year-old Jones man, was not injured.
The extent of their injuries was not indicated in a sheriff’s department media release. Seatbelts were worn and it is unknown if alcohol was involved, according to investigators.
