Barbara A. Atherton, 68, of White Pigeon, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at her home, following an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 2, 1946, in Goshen, Ind., a daughter of Ralph and JoAnn (Garmen) Borden. She lived her early life in Goshen, coming to White Pigeon in 1964. She was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, crocheting, crafts and bird watching.
On Aug. 29, 1964, she married Ronnie L. Atherton in White Pigeon. He survives, along with a daughter, Margaret (Todd) Casselman of Constantine; two sons, Gene ( Angie) Atherton of Constantine and Keith (Dawn) Atherton of Sturgis; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her father, Ralph Borden of Florida; four brothers, Greg (Carol) Borden of Florida, Mike (Marie) Borden of Goshen, Pat Borden of Bristol, Ind., and R.D. (Kim) Borden of Goshen; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Manning of the United Methodist Church officiating. Donations may be directed to Three Rivers Hospice.
