Marilyn Ruth DePlanche, age 83, of Mendon, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born in Mendon on Jan. 28, 1931 the daughter of Donald C. and Alma G. (Bartholomew) Happel. She graduated from Mendon High School where she later worked as a custodian. Marilyn was a homemaker who also worked at G-W Pizza in Mendon and Denton Mills and G & H Industries in Centreville. She enjoyed camping, puzzles, reading, and Mendon Football. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren and their school activities.
Marilyn is survived by three children, Rick Brueck and Tim Brueck of Mendon, and Lisa (Jesse) Johnson of Coldwater; two grandchildren, Cameron and Courtney Johnson; a sister, Donna Claire Dick of Mendon; sister in law, Mary Happel of Colon; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, John Moore, brother, Charles Happel; and sister, Wynona Sheteron.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 1 pm Tuesday Jan. 27, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
