Mary Jo Livingston, 74

Mary Jo Livingston of Bruce Crossing (resident of Three Rivers until 2006) passed away on Jan. 24, 2015 at St. Joseph Medical Hospital in Marshfield, Wis. after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Kalamazoo County on March 23, 1940 to the late Elmer and Hilma Houts. Mary Jo married her beloved husband of 55 years, Darwin, on Aug. 29, 1959. In 1977 she received her master’s degree from Western Michigan University. Mary Jo then taught middle school in Three Rivers until her retirement in 1999.

She was preceded in death by her son Mark.

Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Darwin of Bruce Crossing; daughters, Cristina Livingston of Denver, Colo. and Peggy (Jeff) Roach of Boulder, Colo.; son, Michael Livingston of Bruce Crossing; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Lewis (Edie) Houts of Plano, Texas and Dr. Larry Houts of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Betty (Phil) Knapp of Lawton and Martha (Carl) Stakes of Kerrville, Texas.
