Robert Dodd, 90

Robert Thomas DoddRobert Thomas Dodd, age 90, of Greenville, formerly of Constantine, passed away on Tuesday, January 6th, at Bishop Hills Elder Care Community, Rockford.  Robert was born in St. Joseph, MI on October 17, 1924, a son of Archie and Lena (Alkins) Dodd.  On May 22, 1954, he married Phyllis Jean (Conkright) Dodd at Messiah Lutheran Church in Constantine.

Robert graduated from Constantine High School in 1943 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy.  He  later worked as a truck driver for Constantine Creamery from 1948-1957, and also as a dye tech for Wolverine Worldwide in Rockford, and an advertising sales representative at Sunwest Screen Print, Richland, WA. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing and was a member of the Constantine American Legion #223, Marcellus VFW 4054, 40 & 8 #545 of Sturgis, and the American Legion #101 of Greenville.

Robert is survived by sons Douglas (Christine) Dodd of Belding, Dean (Maureen) Dodd of Greenville, Dennis Dodd of Phoenix, AZ, and David (Melanie) Dodd of Wicket, TX; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Dodd, brother Donald Dodd, and sister June Grant.

Cremation has taken place. Friends and relatives will be received on Saturday, January 10 from 10-11 with Memorial services at 11 at Eley Funeral Home, Constantine.  Interment will occur at Rest Haven Memory Gardens in Greenville at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to Constantine American Legion 40 & 8, Sheridan VFW #5065, Bishop Hills Elder Care Community, or Hospice of West Michigan – Grand Rapids.    Online messages may be left for the family at www.eleyfuneralhomes.com.
