Edward Kelly, 73

Edward Lee Kelly, age 73, of Sturgis, passed away Friday, February 20th, 2015 at the Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo. Edward was born in Brookhaven, MS on January 17, 1942, a son of Della Mae (Kelly) Humphries.   On January 6, 1967, he married Delores Trull in Three Rivers.  Edward graduated from Constantine High School in 1963 and continued on to take welding classes at Glen Oaks Community College.  From 1965 – 1967 he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Later, Edward worked at Abbott Labs, Sturgis, in the maintenance department and also in the can plant.  After 30 years of service, he retired in 2000.  Edward enjoyed collecting HO Trains, Hot Wheels, and Coca-Cola products, loved talking about knives, and was an avid Cubs fan.

Edward is survived by his wife Delores Kelly, Sturgis, daughter Lisa (Brian) Mathews, Florida; son Joseph A Kelly; daughter Rebecca Thibodeaux, both of Sturgis; daughters Melissa Avery and Kosher Avery, both of Trenton; sister Pauline (Kirby) Martin, Three Rivers; brother Micheal (Patricia) Kelly, Sturgis; grandchildren Brittnee, Derrion, Cameron, Brantlee, Bryant, Orion, Kayla, DaShawn, Brandon, and Christine; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and brother Earnest Kelly.

Relatives and friends will be received Thursday, February 26th from 4-6 pm at Eley Funeral Homes, Constantine where Religious services will be held on Friday, February 27th, at 11 am. Pastor Cal Kolzow of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sturgis will officiate.   Interment will follow at Constantine Township Cemetery.  Online messages may be left for the family at www.eleyfuneralhomes.com.
