M. Janice Cooke, age 78, of Three Rivers, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Jan was born on Sept. 5, 1936 in Barberton, OH., the daughter of Ray and Mary Hyland.
Mrs. Cooke graduated from Barberton High School in 1955 and attended Ohio University, Mary Hardin Baylor College, and Case University for varying periods of time, and also attended Bible Study Fellowship for fifteen years in Kalamazoo
Jan spent most of her time as a stay at home mother and wife, as family and faith was very important to her. She volunteered at Midland Nature Center and various churches in her spare time. She also volunteered at Child Evangelism Fellowship, was a Scout den mother and committee member, and a Sunday School teacher. Jan also attended Corey Church of the Nazarene.
Jan and her husband Tom, who were united in marriage on August 24, 1957, enjoyed family vacations, camping, hiking, traveling to new destinations, square and round dancing, boating, and card & board games with family and friends.
Mrs. Cooke was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas Charles Cooke, and one grandson, Aaron Thomas Cooke.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, four sons, Bill (Karen) Cooke, of Clarkston, MI., Mike (Lisa) Cooke, of Ceresco, MI., Matt (Mary Shriner) Cooke, of Orlando, FL., and Ray Cooke, of Benton, IL.; sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brother-in-law, Bill (Judy) Cooke, of Temperance, MI.; and niece, Jodi Barber and nephew, Scott Cooke of Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 a.m. until time of funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Hohner Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Carr officiating.
Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery
Memorials may be donated to the Corey Church of the Nazarene. Envelopes available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
