A Mendon High School junior was the recipient of a prestigious honor recently at the annual Winter Beef Classic in East Lansing.
Ty Cool competed in the heifer showmanship event, along with showing his own stock in other classes. Cool received the Michigan Junior Livestock Society’s senior division Showman Award as well as the coveted Supreme Champion Heifer Showman.
Staged in December, the show included many classes in which 950 beef cattle were shown and 700 exhibitors from around the state of Michigan participated.
Along with an embroidered jacket, Cool will keep a traveling trophy at his home for the next year.
Cool has been showing for six years and has developed his own small herd of Registered Shorthorns. He is a member of the Centreville FFA chapter and belongs to the Happy Herdsmen 4- H Club.
