Arline A. Brown, age 84, of Colon, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Arline was born May 11, 1930, in Evergreen Park, Ill., a daughter of the late Edwin and Sophie (Schwer) Jacques.
She lived in the Chicago area early in life, graduating from Calumet High School with the class of 1948.
On Dec. 30, 1950, she married Robert Brown in Angola, Ind. He preceded her in death Sept. 5, 2002.
Arline had lived most of her adult life in Colon as a homemaker. She was a member of Order of The Eastern Star Chapter #91 in Colon, where she had served as Matron, and held office at the district and state levels. She also was a member of Colon American Legion Auxiliary, where she had served as president and served at the district and state levels. She enjoyed square dancing.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Donald) Eastman and Laura (Danny) Parsons, both of Colon; two sons, Robert A. (Carol) Brown of Scotts and James E. (Margaret) Brown of Goleta, Calif.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Jacques; and a sister, Violet Bagdon.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Arline A. Brown will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at the funeral home, with grandson pastor Darren Harbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
