Ezra J. Bontrager, age 87, 4 months, of Centreville, Mich., passed away March 20, 2015, at 7 p.m. at home surrounded by family. Ezra was born Nov. 30, 1927, in Sikeston, Mo., a son to the late John M. and Elizabeth (Mullet) Bontrager.
Ezra lived in Centreville most of his life, where he had farmed and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; three sons, Marvin (Alma) Bontrager of Nappanee, Ind., William (Rosanna) Bontrager of Leonidas, Mich., and Freeman (EllaMae) Bontrager of Sturgis, Mich.; four daughters, Lydia (Harvey) Hochstetler of Colon, Mich., Sylvia (Marvin) Yoder of Colon, Mich., Miriam (Orvin) Bontrager of Colon, Mich., andMarie (Allen) Yoder of Centreville, Mich.; 34 grandchildren; 82 greatgrandchildren; two brothers, John J. Bontrager of Centreville, Mich., and Henry J.(Beverly) Bontrager of Sturgis, Mich.; one sister, Fannie J. Yoder of Centreville, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Lydia Bontrager of Colon, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Benedict, Levi, Manasses, William, Alvin, Enos, Neal, andMartin; one sister, Miriam; and eight in-laws; one infant daughter; one infant son; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
The family will receive relatives and friends all day today at the Allen Yoder residence at 26798 Wasepi Road, Centreville, MI 49032. Funeral services are Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at the Allen Yoder residence with home ministers officiating.
Burial will follow at the Old Order Amish Cemetery in Centreville.
