Hit-and-run crash investigation leads to other charges

Two people have been arrested in southwestern Michigan on unrelated charges after authorities located a man accused of fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run accident.

Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. says officers executed a search warrant Friday afternoon in Newburg Township after connecting the homeowner to a truck driven in the hit-and-run accident. Officers found two stolen vehicles, marijuana and methamphetamine at the home.

A 49-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested and booked into the Cass County Jail in Cassopolis. Two children who were at the home during the arrests were taken into protective custody.

Underwood says the man admitted to driving the truck in the hit-and-run crash.  (AP)
