The Three Rivers Lions Club has selected Al Heivilin of Three Rivers as this year’s “Bruce C. Snook Citizen of the Year.”
Heivlin, 65, is a graduate of Three Rivers High School, where he earned two letters in basketball, three letters in football and four letters in track.
Later in life, he formed his own construction company, FTK Construction, which he operated for 13 years.
Heivilin’s lengthy participation in community service began in the 1980s with his active participation in the now-inactive Three Rivers Jaycees. He served that organization in many capacities, including president, district director, and regional director.
Heivilin’s service in the Marine Corps Reserves did not end with his retirement. Following the end of that career, he helped found and remains active in the St. Joseph County Marine Corps League.
The April 28 banquet honoring Heivilin will take place at Belle Époque in Three Rivers.
Tickets for the banquet are $20 per person, and will go on sale in late March at Ridgeway Floral in Three Rivers, and will remain on sale through April 15. Tickets will not be available at the door.
