State Rep. Miller makes county visits

State Rep. Aaron Miller was a visible figure in the community last week.

Miller spent the day Friday making public appearances at locations in Centreville and Colon.

The 27-year-old freshman representative spent a portion of the morning at the St. Joseph County Health Center in Centreville. Miller was given a tour of the facility and later met with representatives to discuss issues related to health care and health-care funding.

Colon Elementary School hosted Miller in the afternoon. As part of March is Reading Month, Miller visited Marie Wagner’s third-grade class, the third/fourth split-grade classroom overseen by Sharon Wickey, and a fourth-grade classroom taught by Nicole Tomlinson.

A Sturgis-area resident, Miller brought with him and shared the book The Edmund Fitzgerald: Song of the Bell.

A school teacher by profession, Miller said it was a good feeling to be back in the classroom.
