Two finalists interviewed for county clerk position

A decision on who will be appointed to serve an 18-month term as county clerk and register of deeds could be made next week.
St. Joseph County Circuit Court Judge Paul Stutesman said the four-person team that interviewed finalists Tabitha Wedge and Lindsay Oswald this week will reconvene Tuesday morning and discuss their thoughts in detail.
Stutesman, who is obligated by state statute to make the appointment, said he hopes to render a decision no more than a week after Tuesday’s meeting.
Wedge and Oswald are vying to serve an 18-month position as appointed clerk and register of deeds to replace Pattie Bender, who is retiring June 30.
Joining Stutesman in this week’s interview process were county human resources director Teresa Doehring, probate/circuit court administrator Kathy Griffin, and probate court judge David Tomlinson.
