Bob McClain, 92

Robert Montgomery McClain, age 92, of Three Rivers, died Friday, April 24, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Nottawa Township on Aug. 21, 1922 the son of Robert John and Martha (Rench) McClain and has been a lifetime resident of the Mendon area. He attended the Cupp Country School and worked on the family farm. He was married to Nancy Sand on Dec. 10, 1954 in Vicksburg. She died on April 12, 1993. Bob was a truck driver for 30 years hauling steel for Paramount Furniture in Sturgis. Following his retirement in 1987 he enjoyed gardening, and attended the Crossroads Missionary Church. Bob loved spending time with his family and friends and “Oh Boy!”, did he love his John Deere tractor!

Bob was married to Brenda (Hall) Blackburn on Nov. 23, 2001 in Kentucky. She survives along with Bob’s children, Diane (Dennis) Noble of Vicksburg, Robert J. McClain of Mendon Michael (Sally) McClain of Willowick, OH, Julia (Ron) Everts of Punta Gorda, FL, Carol (Bob) Giesel of Washington, IA, William McClain of Mendon, Joseph (Lori) McClain of Three Rivers, Sandra Lamb of Three Rivers, David (Christina) McClain of LaGrange, IN; 2 step-daughters, Tammy (Kevin) Snyder of Mt. Sherman, KY and Shelly Rice of Melvin, KY; 41grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Stanley McClain and Donald McClain, Martha McClain and Mary Spealman all of Mendon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Charles, Henry, and Ernest; a sister, Ann; and his son, George McClain.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel, 305 Rock River Avenue in Three Rivers. Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday April 28, 2015 at the Crossroads Missionary Church, 22605 M-60, west of Mendon with Pastor Bryan Balasa officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to Noon Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery. Memorials will be directed to the family.
