Gladys Young, 97

Gladys Arlone (Freese) Young, age 97, of Mendon, passed away in the early morning of Friday, April 3, 2015 at Fairview Nursing Home in Centreville. She was born in Three Rivers to Floyd Freese and Francies (Decker) on March 19, 1918. She attended Roys School in Florence Township through the eight grade.

Gladys was united in marriage to Maurice Young of Jones and they were lifelong residents of St. Joseph County. Gladys, known to friends and family as Bobbie, worked in several Three Rivers laundries and later did in-home child care for several families. She loved having her grandchildren and cherished time spent with her family. Gladys was preceded in death by parents, husband, daughter Francies Burkett, two sisters, a brother, three nieces and two nephews. She is survived by son Maurice Samuel, four grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at the Mendon Cemetery on Tuesday, April 07, 2015 with Pastor John McClimens from the Church of God officiating. Arrangements by Hohner Funeral Home.
