Joyce Marie Lucas, age 74, of Colon, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015, at her home, after several months of failing health. Joyce was born Sept. 25, 1940, in Leonidas Township, a daughter of the late Vern and Amelia (Diekman) Allen. She had lived most of her life in the Fulton, Leonidas and Colon area, graduating from Colon High School with the class of 1959.
Joyce enjoyed flower arranging, hunting, baking, mowing her lawns, camping and traveling and, most of all, time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Carl, of Colon; three children, Terri L. (Lucas) Means of Colon, Chris S. Lucas and friend KarenMiller, both of Colon, and Peggy N. (Roy) Currier of Middlebury, Ind.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond (Beverly) Allen of Bronson; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Allen of Colon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, David L., Wendel E. and Roger Allen.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Joyce M. Lucas will at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the funeral home, with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
If desired, the family suggest memorials be made to either the Colon Rescue Squad or Heartland Hospice of Kalamazoo. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
