Lawton – Double murder arrest

A third person has been charged in the murders of a southwest Michigan couple nearly 13 years ago. 44-year-old Timothy Andrews was arraigned Wednesday in Van Buren County District Court in Paw Paw on two counts of open murder. 66-year old Carlin Noble and his 57-year old wife Roberta were found dead in their burned-out home in Lawton in August 2002. Andrews’ then-girlfriend Michelle Gogins was convicted of her role in the murders in 2005 and his cousin, Ronald Spangler Jr., was found guilty in 2009. During testimony in those cases, it was revealed the couple were killed in a robbery attempt as the trio was trying to get money to buy methamphetamine. Andrews has been in prison since 2007 for perjury in the case. He testified during Gogins’ trial in 2005 that he was not involved, but later told cellmates in the Van Buren County jail that all three beat the couple to death and set their house on fire.  (MRN)
