No injuries in Sherman Township crash

A 20-year-old Constantine man escaped injury last week after the vehicle he was driving went off the roadway and struck a tree in Sherman Township.
Deputies from the St. Joseph County Sheriff Department were dispatched at 5 p.m. Wednesday to Balk Road, where they found Jason Gagliardo. He told police he was traveling north on Balk Road when he swerved to miss a deer approximately one-quarter of a mile south of Banker Street.
Gagliardo’s vehicle crossed the centerline, went off the roadway to the left and into the ditch. His vehicle came to a stop after it hit a series of fence posts.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Gagliardo was cited for speeding. He was treated at the scene and refused to be transported to the hospital.
