Several injured in single vehicle crash

Speed was a factor in a single-vehicle accident that resulted in injuries to four people Monday in Lockport Township.
Members of the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department said the incident occurred shortly before 7 o’clock Monday night on Schweitzer Road, west of Holtom Road.
Investigators said a Pontiac passenger car driven by an 18-year-old Sturgis woman was westbound on Schweitzer Road, when it entered a curve at a high rate of speed, lost control and went off the right side of the roadway before flipping several times.
The three passengers in the vehicle sustained minor injuries and were treated at Three Rivers Health.
The driver sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital. The driver was also not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
She will be cited for careless driving, according to authorities.
