The Sturgis Area Community Foundation has awarded six mini-grants to Sturgis Public Schools.
Various teachers who were recipients of the grants indicated to the district’s board of education the use of their grant money.
Teacher Mackenzie Adams said her $250 grant will go toward Thursday morning athletic trainer taping workshops at Sturgis High School.
Pandora Day at Eastwood Elementary received a $250 grant for take-home reading game packs.
Meanwhile, Joe Ehlert and Jayne Henricks of Eastwood Elementary said their $500 grant will be used for Eastwood Giving Garden.
Debby Mathis of Wall Elementary received a $250 grant for Leader in Me binders for students.
Kim Lego of Wenzel Elementary said her $125 mini-grant will be used for the community cheer program.
Dan Root and Doug Camburn received a $ 250 mini-grant that will allow for school bus tickets to promote good behavior on the bus. Tickets will be given to students when they are setting a good example. Tickets will then be pulled for prizes.
