Members of the Sturgis City Commission earlier this month gave approval to accommodations for an expanded Sturgis Fest lineup, slated for the last full week of June.
Added to this year’s events are a car exhibition on U.S. 12 and a dog show in Franks Park.
Cathi Abbs, executive director of Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce, indicated another surprise is planned during this year’s Sturgis Fest that will involve partnering with the national Wounded Warriors organization.
Bike night will mean closure of U.S. 12 from 3 p.m. to midnight June 25, allowing cleanup time after the event closes at 10 p.m. Meanwhile, live music and a beer garden are planned at Free Church Park and food vendors will be located on North Street.
In addition to the car show, activities on Friday (June 26) will include a 5K run starting and ending in the downtown area, children’s events and a 2 p.m. parade.
Only a portion of the traditional parade route will be closed to traffic on Friday and Saturday morning.
