Constantine Fire Chief Mike Haydon has received bids for a new fire department pumper-tanker.
Haydon last week told village council members he has received bids of nearly $318,000 from Halt/Pierce Inc. and more than $285,000 from Rosenbauer for the purchase.
Haydon said there is a 20- to 25-year life expectancy for the truck and its purchase comes with financing as an option.
Haydon also reviewed procedures of the fire funding exploratory committee, which was formed in February to study funding the purchase of one or more vehicles, and possibly building a new fire station. Cost to replace the old station is estimated at $ 1.5 million.
Operational costs of the fire department are currently split among Constantine village, and Constantine and Florence townships.
