New IVR system at Sturgis Electric

The Sturgis Electric Department this week implemented a new, interactive-voice-response system.
The IVR system will allow customers to report power outages by calling 659-7255, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The automated system will identify the calling phone number and immediately report the address associated with that number to the electric department. That will allow technicians to find appropriate outage groupings and fix the outage as promptly as possible, officials said.
The IVR system relies on accurate account information to identify the outage area, so customers are urged to check their contact information on file with the electric department by calling customer service, 659-7254.
