Colon High School’s marching band will be sporting a fresh, new look in the fall.
The combination of good timing and even better connections has helped the high school secure new band uniforms. Though the outfits are used, they are a major step up, according to principal Deb Swartz.
Swartz said high school secretary Marianne Verner led the charge in securing the outfits. Thanks to connections Verner has at Vicksburg High School, Colon was able to secure jackets, pants and a sash for less than $50 per set.
She said the district purchased 50 sets of uniforms.
Swartz said the high school’s previous uniforms were about 20 years old and looked every bit their age.
Swartz said a local resident has offered to sew the Colon Band patches onto the jackets, covering the Vicksburg Bulldogs emblem.
