Police: Man fatally shot after chase was wanted on warrant

Police say a passenger in a vehicle who was shot to death by police following a chase in southwestern Michigan had been wanted on a warrant for trespassing.

State police say 37-year-old Sean Michael Pelletier of Portage had a high-powered military-style rifle and was shot Thursday afternoon following a crash. Police say he was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say the 29-year-old driver also was shot and is listed in critical condition.

Authorities initially tried to stop the vehicle in Kalamazoo County. After a chase it crashed about 30 minutes later in a parking lot at Anna’s Vineyard Apartments in Portage, south of Grand Rapids.

No officers were hurt. State police are leading the investigation with help from the Kalamazoo County sheriff’s department, Kalamazoo police and Portage police.  (AP)
