Service planned for woman whose remains identified this year

A memorial service is planned for a young Michigan woman whose remains were identified this year after being found in Louisiana in 1981.

Carol Ann Cole’s sister, Jeanie Phelps, has been raising money for a funeral since identification was made in the “Bossier Doe” case. Phelps tells the Kalamazoo Gazette she feels good to know that Cole will get a final resting place.

A committal is June 18 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock Township followed by a memorial service at Radiant Church in Richland.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office is working on the investigation. Cole’s family got in touch with authorities less than a week after investigators created a Facebook page for the case that was topped with a composite drawing of what she might have looked like.  (AP)
